why The 914 is offering paid subscriptions that in no way differ from free subscriptions . . .
Sorry for the housekeeping post. It has come to our attention that our social media platform provides better distribution (i.e., to more humans) when a site has a paid subscription option. Therefore, we are turning on said paid option. Please realize paying will get you nothing but our evanescent gratitude, and perhaps a warm feeling from possibly having abetted a deposit to the interns’ petty cash box. Free subscribers will retain all the same access to posts, comments, DMs, etc., and will not receive anything less than those who pay. That said, if you do pay for your subscription, and wish to send a DM asking for a 914 drink coaster or bookmark, we will do our best to mail you one. Though same goes for anybody who does not wish to pay. No promises, and while supplies last, etc.
Also, if you do choose to pay for a subscription, you may notice that there’s a 90% discount if you do a group subscription of 2 or more people, which may possibly be means to work around Substack’s minimum monthly and annual subscription amounts.
